The idea to use Yin, (which is my friend Jenny's Chinese name) to the painting came as a thought when painting the face. Yin the female of yin/yang is an East Asian goddess venerated for mercy and compassion. She is upon a soft white cloud placed on the back of a dragon. Dragons are symbols of luck in China, which is invoked for our times. Swans travel in a formation to land from Europe to Us. They land in the blue of water, making the crescent that Yin is on both the moon and boat. The crescent moon phase is seen in winter during time of Muslim Ramadan, an invocation also of mercy and compassion.
